1990 Documentary feature on one of the greatest producers the planet has ever produced – the eccentric and enigmatic Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.
Filmed around Perry’s equally eccentric Switzerland abode and studio, the programme kicks off with short interviews with Dr Alimantado and the Mad Professor praising Lee Perry. But importantly throughout the 48 minutes the film maker’s focus is firmly on Perry himself (rather than self proclaimed experts and talking heads as is often the case with contemporary documentaries) and most of it constitutes footage of him talking about his own unique spirituality and music. In almost every frame smoking what looks to be a rather potent substance. We’re sure it’s tame gear for the man himself mind you. Great watch with a great soundtrack. Enjoy.
