Kraftwerk recently announced a string of dates in Dusseldorf and London as well as at Sonar in 2013. We were fortunate enough to bag tickets for one of the German legs.
Although by no means our first choice of concert to attend, The Mix will do just fine for our first gig and mini-holiday of 2013. The 1991 ‘greatest hits – remixed’ recording isn’t really considered as essential an album as Autobahn, Radio Activity, Trans Europe Express, Man Machine or Computer World however we think this one could potentially be as good as, if not better than, those performances within the programme. Especially given its nature as a compilation designed to make you dance – Now, that’s what I call Kraftwerk!
Time will tell anyway. Suffice to say, tickets for any of the dates would have been gratefully received round our way. Having never had the opportunity to see the great group live before, seeing this in 3D, in their hometown on January 19th, should be a phenomenal experience regardless of the album’s reputation within the Kraftwerk catalogue and the controversy perceived by many fans with regards the omission of three important early works – Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 2 and Ralf and Florian.
Plus it means we’ll be able to pay a long overdue visit to, by what is by all accounts, a must-visit venue, the discerning and amazingly curated Salon Des Amateurs club/bar/cafe space in Dusseldorf while we’re over there.
And if this sort of thing is up your strasse then watch Kraftwerk and The Electronic Revolution.
