Short documentary on the one and only, William Onyeabor. Directed by Jake Sumner, it’s a fantastic 30 minutes story of a fantastic man with beyond fantastic tunes. He has a Good Name, too.
More films and things on Racket Racket can be perused here. They include a film called Konkombe, about the Nigerian music scene and heritage of the 70s so kind of related to this one, in a way.
And you can buy the recent retrospective compilation of the great Nigerian artist’s music on Luaka Bop here. You won’t be disappointed. It’s been on repeat at RR HQ for months.
The film is showing at the brilliant Outlaws Yachts Club in Leeds this Sunday and RR are planning to try and get the film screened in Glasgow on a big screen in the near future. Watch this space.
