Dr Rob from the influential and on-point, Test Pressing, with the latest Racket Racket mix. A selection of underground post-punk funk and dub records from the 70s and 80s.
Distance No ObjectAs anyone who knows us, or who has been paying close attention over the last twelve months, will know we are big fans of the Test Pressing site. The site is run by two very discerning and talented arbiters of good taste – Apiento in London and Dr Rob in Japan. Dr Rob has a record collection that never fails to surprise and scintillate, as heard through the likes of the Tokyo to Kissa series, The Producers series and the London Clubs series as well as his regular radio programme, The Remedy on Samurai FM.
For this, Rob has kindly put together a superb and seamless selection of some lesser known post-punk tracks (with some you may have heard before in there too). All brought together with an overarching DIY dub and funk sensibility as oppose to, say, the very distinct sounds and scenes of the post-punk movements happening in places like Manchester, Sheffield, New York or Glasgow during the same years. It begins with On-U stalwarts the New Age Steppers and ends on a track by Syndrome with lots to savour in between. Enjoy and feel free to get in touch if you would like any individual tracks identified. Lots more to come from us in the new year including, hopefully, another mix or two from Dr Rob as the year goes on.
There’s a second part to Distance No Object available here.
All the very best for 2013 one and all. x
Have a listen to the other mixes on Racket Racket.

All Dr Rob’s mix is always a pleasure to listen to. I was wondering when he would put out some of his mix as the official release in CD or vinyl. Would love to learn the tracklist of this Racket Racket mix please. Thanks and Happy New Year 2013.
