This Is My Home

We saw this one last week and are finally getting round to posting. One of the most heart warming and lovely videos we’ve seen for some time. Really want to jump on a plane to NYC and see this place.

The short film takes a look around the home of an idiosyncratic New Yorker who has amassed an enviable collection of ephemera, art, trinkets and memories throughout his interesting life. The guy happily allows people to wander in and have a look around his life’s collection of belongings.

Listen to him. He speaks with a truly endearing, humble and warm hearted perspective and his philosophy is something we could all learn a thing or two from.

Here’s what the Departure Arrival Films website, who made the film, say about it:

On an unseasonably warm November night in Manhattan on our way to get ice cream, we stumbled upon what appeared to be a vintage shop, brightly lit display window and all. As we began to walk in, a man sitting out front warned us that we were welcome to explore, but nothing inside was for sale. Our interests piqued, we began to browse through the collections the man out front had built throughout his life. This is a story of a man and his home.

There are some more short clips from the most interesting and intriguing abode in New York on the Departure Arrival Films website. And, speaking of Departures and Arrivals this short film has made us want to book flights for NYC asap. Kraftwerk or no Kraftwerk.
