Racket Racket cohorts, We Can Still Picnic release the brand new EP, The Bastard Beat, by the brilliant Casual Sex on Monday 11th November. Some pretty exciting tour dates announced as well.
With an overall sound and vibe that takes in the glam of David Bowie, the fun and funk of Tom Tom Club, the raw vibrancy of The Fall and the accessibility of modern Glasgow indie stalwarts, Franz Ferdinand (who they’re joining on a US tour later this year) in equal measure, we predict big things for Casual Sex. Brilliant songwriting and an energetic, eccentric and exhilarating spectacle to watch live, we think Casual Sex will authentically continue the long and outstandingly innovative lineage of top notch Glasgow based indie bands since the days of Postcard Records and Orange Juice.
Here’s what Bjorn Sandberg, their manager, agent, PR and We Can Still Picnic label co-founder has to say about the new material:
Matured, Emboldened, Experienced – This is the sound of Casual Sex after a summer of festivals, sell out records and touring. We find their skins thicker, their musical ideas tighter, their instruments sharper and thoughts perhaps, a little darker on this brand new record, The Bastard Beat EP. Nothing on Earth is the first cut from the aforementioned EP, due on We Can Still Picnic on Monday 11th November.
