Turner Prize winning artist, Grayson Perry curates an installation of his new works alongside objects he’s specially chosen from the British Museum’s vaults.
The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsmen installation features crafted objects from throughout history and around the globe sitting alongside the artist’s own works including the exhibition centrepiece ship sculpture and colourfully autobiographical customised motorcycle.
Perry is a bit of a national treasure, so it’s good to see him getting the chance to trawl through the treasures at the Museum and put together his own unique collection of the most interesting, exciting and extraordinary exhibits.
Grayson Perry’s installation runs from 6 Oct to 19 Feb.
This is a memorial to all the anonymous craftsmen that over the centuries have fashioned the manmade wonders of the world… The craftsman’s anonymity I find especially resonant in an age of the celebrity artist.
