Documentary about the island of Ibiza and the musical pilgrimages there before the mainstream masses descended in the mid to late 90s. It focuses on the stories of young Brits heading over there to party for that summer’s momentous Ibiza 90.
With appearances throughout the half hour programme from bands and DJs enjoying their time on the island – The Farm, A Man Called Adam, Rocky, Terry Farley and Orde Meikle from Glasgow’s Slam and Ibiza stalwart, Charlie Chester; as well as footage in and around the legendary Ku and Cafe Del Mar venues, this one should please and appease anyone with an interest in the Balearic Beat, the history of acid house and general youth and dance music culture of that era.
The short documentary, originally shown on Channel 4, captures the vibe, ethos, and above all, fun-filled spirit that fuelled those pivotal parts and parties of Ibiza really effectively with a fitting soundtrack that includes Bocca Juniors, Andy Weatherall, The Orb, The Grid, Primal Scream and more than a handful of other timeless records from that year or just before.
